Arrest in fatal Huntington Station hit-run

A Huntington Station man was arrested Wednesday, charged with fleeing the scene of a hit-and-run accident that left a pedestrian dead on New Year's Day, police said.
Cesar Gudiel, 46, of Huntington Station, was killed in the 7:35 p.m. crash on New York Avenue at East 21st Street in Huntington Station, Suffolk County police said.
William Koziatek, 45, of 44 E. 17th St., was arrested by Second Squad detectives after an investigation, police said. He pleaded not guilty to leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash, a felony, during his arraignment Wednesday in First District Court in Central Islip. . He was being held on $150,000 cash bail
Police did not immediately say what led to Koziatek's arrest. However, shortly after the fatal hit-and-run, police released a photograph of a light-colored sport utility vehicle they said was captured by surveillance footage near the crash scene.
According to authorities, Koziatek said he worked as a foreman for a vegetation management company based in upstate New York.
