Uniformed police officers arriving to serve an arrest warrant in East Northport late Tuesday ended up in a standoff after they said the man they were seeking barricaded himself inside the residence.

The standoff remained ongoing Wednesday morning, Suffolk County police said.

Police said it was not known if the man was armed. They said no hostages were involved.

Police could not say what the arrest warrant was for and did not identify the subject.

The incident occurred at 10:53 p.m. on Fort Salonga Road. The road remained closed Wednesday morning between Vernon and Laurel.
