A dried apricot product sold in New York and New Jersey stores has been recalled because of undeclared ingredients, the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets said.
Hicksville Villagers Corp., of Hicksville, recalled 400-gram bags of "twisted apricot" that contain undeclared sulfites.
"People who have a severe sensitivity to sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume these products," the department said in a statement on Wednesday.
The recalled product was distributed to retail stores in New York and New Jersey and comes in a clear plastic bag marked with Villagers Farmers Market / 265 N Broadway, Hicksville — NY.
No illnesses or adverse reactions involving the product have been reported, the state said.
The recall was announced after the state conducted a routine sampling and analysis of the product.
Consumers who purchased the twisted apricot bags are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
