Fifty Northwell Health nurses attended a filming this week of “Harry,” a talk show hosted by Harry Connick Jr., for an episode honoring nurses airing Thursday.
“Good Morning America” anchor Robin Roberts and “Flip or Flop” star Tarek El Moussa each discussed their personal medical ordeals and thanked the nurses who treated them, according to a news release.
Each Northwell nurse was selected to attend the filming in Manhattan Wednesday based on essays the nurses wrote, a Northwell spokesman said.
One Northwell nurse, Lori Andersen-Macchio from Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, administered “first aid” to Connick Jr. on air, taking the host’s pulse.
“It was an inspiring day filled with heartwarming stories from patients who expressed their gratitude to registered nurses who changed or saved their lives,” said Maureen White, Northwell’s senior vice president and chief nurse executive, who was also part of the studio audience. “It was a great deal of fun, and the Northwell team left inspired, motivated and proud.”
The episode will air Thursday at 4 p.m. on Fox/5.
