A Port Washington estate is on the market for $2.85 million. The annual property taxes are $33,655. There is currently an accepted offer.

The Colonial contains six bedrooms and 3½ bathrooms. It sits on Summit Road, right off of Beacon Hill Road, making it part of Beacon Hill’s neighborhood association.

There are 9-foot-tall ceilings throughout the house, with three wood-burning fireplaces. It was built in 1923.

"The comments I got from the showings we had were that the photos couldn't show the volume and scale of the house," said listing agent Heidi Karagianis, of Daniel Gale Sotheby's International Realty. "It truly is a grand house, with very spacious rooms."

The size of the property surprised prospective buyers, she said: The house sits on a half-acre of land. Other notable features include heated floors, a butler's pantry complete with a wet bar and a detached two-car garage.

"It’s a Sands Point mansion in the middle of Beacon Hill," Karagianis said. "And you have access to everything." The property is less than a mile away from the businesses and restaurants along Port Washington Boulevard.

The new homeowners can take part in a Beacon Hill tradition where many residents gather at one house in the neighborhood to feast on appetizers together, then split into smaller groups for dinner at homes throughout the area, Karagianis said.

This home is known as the "dessert house," she said: By the evening’s end, all the residents meet back there for the last sweet dish of the night.

"It’s a beautifully built house," she said, "in a very nice community."

The property is served by the Port Washington Union Free School District.
