CLEVELAND — Gleyber Torres continues to make a strong impression.

The 19-year-old, the key acquisition in the July deal that sent closer Aroldis Chapman to the Cubs, was named the Arizona Fall League’s Player of the Week Tuesday after hitting .667 with a homer, double, three walks and two stolen bases for the Scottsdale Scorpions.

Overall, the shortstop prospect has a slash line of .391/.517/.739 in AFL play.

Cubs manager Joe Maddon obviously is thrilled to have Chapman but referenced Torres Monday while talking about the closer.

“I’ve seen Gleyber. Gleyber’s a good baseball player, man,” Maddon said. “That kid’s going to be really good. So you have to give up something to get something. But also our guys felt if we got Aroldis this year, we’d have a chance to be sitting here and answering this question, and they were right.”
