Indians first baseman Nick Swisher's "Back in the Bronx Tour" continued last night with handshakes, back slaps, hugs and more "bros" than you could shake a bat at.
The former Yankees rightfielder was the toast of the town during batting practice. Between swings in the cage, Swisher would rush back to a rope line of fans behind the plate and shake hands and pose for pictures. Then he would run back to take his swings with the rest of the Indians. He must have made at least five round trips like that.
Swisher also had a friendly chat with Derek Jeter near the Yankees' dugout and an animated discussion with Brian Cashman behind the batting cage. Cashman looked exasperated as he walked away from Swisher, who can often have that effect on people.
But Cashman said there were no hard feelings expressed and Swisher said they were "just joking around."
Cashman and Swisher actually have a closer than normal executive/player relationship.
Cashman said his 14-year-old daughter, Grace, asked to sing the national anthem before Monday's game for one reason.
"She picked [Monday] because she loves Swisher," he said. "He was her favorite Yankee."

Jeter (ankle) said he is returning to Tampa after Wednesday's game to continue his rehab. Is he going to ramp it up? "If I can convince them," he said . . . Michael Pineda (shoulder) will make his first minor-league rehab start Saturday in Tampa. After what should be a 30-day stint, Pineda will be considered for the Yankees' rotation, Cashman said . . . Eduardo Nuñez (oblique strain) was sent for a second MRI after experiencing discomfort.
