Harding lifts Northport in girls tennis

Mickey Harding beat Tracey Rosenlicht in the deciding second singles match, 6-4, 6-4, as visiting and No. 19 Northport continued its playoff run with a 4-3 win over 11th-seeded Commack in a Suffolk girls tennis quarterfinal Wednesday.

Northport (14-1), which upset No. 3 Westhampton, 4-3, on Tuesday, will play at No. 2 Half Hollow Hills West in a semifinal Thursday at 3 p.m.Harborfields 5, Ward Melville 2:Sara Tane defeated Sabrina Ferretti, 6-3, 6-1, in second singles to lead No. 5 Harborfields (11-4) in a Suffolk quarterfinal. Harborfields will face No. 1 Half Hollow Hills East in a semifinal Thursday at 3 p.m.

FIELD HOCKEY

Sewanhaka 2, Great Neck South 1: Skylar Shimanski scored the winner with 9:12 left for Sewanhaka District (2-12) in Nassau Conference II.Miller Place 1, Shoreham-Wading River 0: Maggie Gersbeck scored the winner on a penalty stroke with 3:18 left in overtime for Miller Place (10-4) in Suffolk Division III.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

East Hampton 3, Shoreham-Wading River 0: A.J. Bennett had 45 assists and Thomas King had 17 kills to lead East Hampton (9-2) to a 25-15, 25-21, 25-17 Suffolk League III win.

Great Neck North 3, Jericho 0: Julia Wolf had 13 kills, Peggy Yang had 12 assists and Delia McAward added seven kills for Great Neck North (13-3) in its 25-18, 25-21, 25-11 win in Nassau Conference A-III.

GIRLS SWIMMING

Half Hollow Hills 96, Central Islip / Commack 82:Selina Ng won the 100-yard breaststroke in a school-record time of 1:11.32 for Half Hollow Hills (4-1 in League I), according to coach Jason Weidersum.

GIRLS GYMNASTICS

Ward Melville 168.2, Kings Park 155.75:Cydney Crasa won the floor (9.45) and vault (9.175) and Alison Larocca took first in the bars (8.875) and beam (8.75) for Ward Melville (10-0), which clinched the League I championship.

Babylon 166.3, Smithtown 163.3:Mikaila Hartigan won the vault (9.125) and floor (9.15), Kayla McCarthy won the bars (8.25) and Krista Virga took first on beam (8.75) for Babylon (9-1) in League I.
