HEAD OF THE HARBOR

9 Watercrest Ct.
$1,800,000

The owners of this 15-room home can bone up on their bowling without having to leave the house. A regulation-size AMF bowling lane is set in the 3,000-square-foot basement. It's complete with an automatic ball return as well as special lighting, for rock and roll bowling, for example. Around the bend is a billiards room with a wet bar and a gaming area with three video games, which are all staying. A gym is also located in the basement. The remainder of the house is 6,000 square feet. The entire house is handicapped accessible with ramps and wide doorways. There are two fireplaces, five skylights, seven bedrooms, six bathrooms and two half-baths. The house is set in a cul-de-sac on a two-acre parcel. A rear deck overlooks the in-ground pool, which has a slide and a diving board. There's also a cabana.

Congratulations to Patchogue's Michael Fagan on his first career individual singles title on the PBA tour, having dispatched one of the game's all-time greats, Walter Ray Williams Jr., in the final of the One A Day Dick Weber Open.

The event no doubt was watched by more people than might normally have seen it on ESPN2 because one of the commentators was Bill (Sports Guy) Simmons, who late in the match mentioned that Fagan had been "making out" with his bowling ball all day.

Simmons quickly was informed by his fellow announcers that Fagan merely was blowing into his thumb hole to dry it out.

(Also, a frustrated Walter Ray dropped a couple of s-words on live TV. That was funny.)

Now that I've watched my friend and fellow former Newsday St. John's beat writer Judy Battista on ESPN's "The Sports Reporters," and Simmons on bowling, I feel less pressure to watch TV this evening and make difficult decisions among the Islanders, Devils, Nets, Knicks, Rangers, Pro Bowl, Grammys, "Desperate Housewives," "Simpsons," "SNL Presents: Sports All-Stars" and Shaun White on "60 Minutes."

Maybe I'll read a book instead.

Oh, and one more thing before I leave you alone until Monday:

Remember all that talk about a tough two-team race in Ivy League basketball between powerhouses with impressive early season resumes?

Never mind.
