'The Rock' enjoys kicking ----

Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson never became a star as a University of Miami football player in the early 1990s, but he remains close to fellow Hurricanes of various eras - including Warren Sapp, Jessie Armstead and Ray Lewis - and feels very much a part of the program's tradition.

"The program is a sacred program, and it's a brotherhood we all take a lot of pride in," he said last week during an interview to promote his new film, "Tooth Fairy."

"That program was a catalyst for all of us."

Johnson's first post-football career was pro wrestling. Does he see himself ever performing as a wrestler again?

"I don't see that," he said. "I had a goal list of everyone I wanted to wrestle and the very last guy on that list was Brock Lesnar. We had a tremendous match.

"After that I'd accomplished everything I was interested in."

I asked Johnson whether he planned to continue making family films, or whether he planned to get back to the action genre.

"I still do love kicking ----," he said. "There's a a really cool action movie I'm working on called 'Faster.'

"My character served 15 years in prison, and when I get out I hand out all-day long ----kickings. It’s a little different. It’s not Disney."
