Call it the Bieber movie remix.

Even though the 3-D concert film "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never" is still in theaters, it will be re-released Friday with 40 minutes of new footage in a version called the Director's Fan Cut.

It will replace all current 3-D showings for one week; regular 2-D versions will remain the same.

The new film, which is about 10 minutes longer in total than the original, includes more backstage pranks with the 16-year-old pop singer and a montage focusing on his famously silky hair (which he recently cut and intends to donate to a charity auction). Bieber also sings his pop hit "Baby" with a 3-year-old fan on his lap.

According to Paramount Pictures, Bieber and director Jon M. Chu polled fans through Twitter and Facebook to find out what they wanted more of in the film. This was the result.

The re-release is an unusual if not unprecedented move that could extend the life of "Never Say Never." The movie has earned more than $50 million so far but, like most concert films, has seen steep drops in ticket sales since its release Feb. 11. It is now the third highest-grossing concert film, behind "Michael Jackson's This is It," with $72 million, and "Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert," with $65 million, according to figures from BoxOfficeMojo.com.
