Kim Kardashian became depressed after realizing her marriage to Kris Humphries was a mistake, the reality-TV star said in a joint interview with members of her extended family that aired Sunday on Oprah Winfrey's "Oprah's Next Chapter."

"I was in such a deep depression I thought I was going to back away from it all," Kardashian, 31, told Winfrey of her 72-day marriage to the Brooklyn Nets player. "You know when you just have that feeling that he's the one? When we moved in, I had the feeling he was not the one."

Humphries, she said, is "a good person. I will always have a place in my heart for him. It just wasn't for me."

Kardashian also reiterated past statements that the sponsored and televised wedding extravaganza was not a publicity stunt. "If anything, the tough decision to end that relationship was such a risk of losing ratings, losing my fan base," she told Winfrey. "But I had to take that risk for myself."

Asked about the leaked sex tape that inadvertently launched her TV career, Kardashian sighed and said, "That's pretty much how I was introduced to the world. It was a negative way, so I feel like I had to work 10 times harder to get people to see the real me."

She added, "That's something that I'm going to have to live with for the rest of my life and have to explain to my children one day."

Part two of the interview airs Sunday on OWN.
