Parenthood isn't easy, and Michael Lohan made the best of things without his four children at his 50th birthday party Friday night at Honu in Huntington. He feted his big 5-0 with his mother Marilyn, his sister Kerry, his fiance Kate Major and potential investors in his proposed reality show, "Crossing Borders," among others.
"It's hard," he said, being there without his actress daughter Lindsay, 23, and her sister Ali, 16, who flew in from California on Thursday. His eldest child, Michael Jr., was away at college, and 13-year-old Cody was at home with ex-wife Dina Lohan. "I don't want to speak badly of Dina," he said, "but this is just like my father's funeral," which the children did not attend.
As for the reported possibility that Lindsay might go to jail for probation violation when she goes before the judge at her progress hearing in Beverly Hills on May 20, Michael is sanguine.
"I think the possible parole violation is an act of God," he said. "Putting Lindsay in a place she has to go: rehab, not jail. Jail will serve no purpose."
