'Inception' vs. 'Salt'

Christopher Nolan’s “Inception” still has “Salt” beat for a second week with an estimated $43.5 million, raising the 10-day total to $143.7 million. “Salt” comes in second at the box office with an estimated $36.5 million.
In a place where new technology re-invents a dream world where anything can be manipulated, Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio), a trained thief, teams up with Ariadne (Ellen Page), a college student, to create layered dreams in order to sneak into the mind of a rich and powerful man. This is a film where realities collide with dreams and it's hard to wake up.
My review: It’s a perfect science fiction thriller to hit this summer's box office. All ages can enjoy this action-packed movie. And with a guide to the dream world that helps pull everything together through subtle informative moments between the main characters, the heavily detailed storyline is easier to grasp. The director shows you the ingenious details of the dream world without lecturing audiences. Not only do the special effects look so real that it’s hard not to sit at the edge of your seat, but the ending will make you cringe, but in a good way. The director leaves audiences to choose for themselves what happens at the end. Does it fall? Oh, there’s a little inconsistent wobble. Oh, wait. It’s still spinning. Decide for yourself.

Philip Noyce’s “Salt,” released last Friday, has followed close behind “Inception,” released a week earlier. Evelyn Salt (Angelina Jolie), a CIA agent who is accused of being a Russian Spy by a defector who walks right in, runs in order to prove her innocence. But, the more she runs, the more questions are left unanswered. Ask yourself one question: who is Salt? You'll find your answer.
My review: Jolie plays a convincing role as both a CIA agent and Russian assassin. It’s surprising how the story unfolds, but it's fast pace and easily understandable straight through to the end. The movie, with an unpredictable turn out, is a must see if you were entertained by the Bourne trilogy. Let’s put it this way: Jolie would play a good Ms. Bourne.
