Meet Newsday&#39;s top high school athletes on Long Island&nbsp;for fall sports entering the&nbsp;2023 season.

Newsday's annual list of the top 50 high school field hockey players on Long Island for the fall 2023 season, listed alphabetically. 
 Shannon Abraldes, Sachem East, M, Sr.: She’s a stealthy and quick player who has great skill at distributing the ball. Her vision and game awareness are some of her best attributes. 
 Maureen Arendt, Garden City, D, Sr.: Although not a goalkeeper, Arendt will often dive for saves. When called upon, she’ll lock down the opponent’s best player. 
 Damiana Beige, West Islip, GK, Jr.:&nbsp;Beige is the only returning starter, so she’ll take on a greater leadership role. She’ll be the anchor for a young team. 
 Grace Camera, Manhasset F, Sr.:&nbsp;Camera has crafty stickhandling skills to pair with smart decision making. She finished ninth in Nassau with 15 points on&nbsp;nine goals and six assists. 
 Luna Coronel, Carle Place, M, Jr.:&nbsp;Coronel controls the pace of the game with her speed, strength and ball control. She also tackles very well to round out her game.

 Katie Cummings, Smithtown East, M, Sr.:&nbsp;The senior has great field hockey IQ and finds her teammates nicely from the midfield. 
 Charlotte Curtin, Huntington, F, Jr.:&nbsp;Curtin steps into a leadership role after learning &nbsp;from a team of seniors last year. She brings a high level of skill and talent to a young roster. 
 Madison DeLeon, Clarke, F, So.:&nbsp;She started every game as a freshman, showcasing a well-rounded attack. 
 Sydney Elizalde, Connetquot, M, Jr.:&nbsp;Elizalde will play a large role on a Connetquot team that lost 12 seniors, including 10 starters. 
 Colleen Emanuele, Massapequa, GK, Sr.:&nbsp;She made big stop after big stop en route to Massapequa winning the Nassau Class A championship for the second straight year. 
 Olivia Eusanio, Harborfields M, Jr.:&nbsp;Eusanio finished with 13 goals and seven assists to lead Harborfields to a 14-4 record last season. 
 Avery Filippone, West Babylon, F, Sr.:&nbsp;West Babylon steps up to Division I, and Filippone will lead the offensive charge. 
 Alexa Flood, Eastport-South Manor, M, Sr.:&nbsp;Flood finished last season with seven goals and six assists, which helped Eastport-South Manor earn an 11-4 record in Suffolk II.

 Julia Fusco, Bayport-Blue Point, F/M, Sr.: Fusco tallied eight goals and 10 assists last season and will continue to be a critical piece of the offense. 
 Sadie Hoffman, Miller Place, M, Jr.:&nbsp;Hoffman, a three-year varsity starter, brings a powerful drive and great shot to the offense. She also possesses good field vision and stickwork. 
 Tara Hollis, Garden City, F/M, Sr.:&nbsp;Hollis scored the winning goal against Manhasset in the Nassau Class B championship last season. Her speed and tactical approach are exceptional. 
 Ainsley Johnson, Locust Valley, M, Sr.:&nbsp;Johnson has great speed and intelligence in the midfield. She is a captain this season. 
 Alexa Kidd, Ward Melville, F, Sr.:&nbsp;Kidd regularly creates shooting opportunities and corners with her smooth stickwork. She tallied 24 points (11 goals and 13 assists) last season, tied for fifth best in Suffolk. 
 Kylie Lamoureux, Rocky Point, M, Jr.:&nbsp;Lamoureux played key roles on both ends of the field and has been playing varsity field hockey since eighth grade. 
 Adriana Lloves, Friends Academy, F/M, Sr.:&nbsp;Lloves, who is a captain this season, led the team with 10 goals and seven assists last season. 
 Rachel Louie, Cold Spring Harbor, M, Jr.: She enters her fourth year on varsity. The junior is the lead player for both offensive and defensive corners. 
 Kate Lysaght, Harborfields, D, Sr.: Lysaght helped Harborfields secure 12 shutouts last season. On offense, she produced six goals and 11 assists. 
 Olivia Maler, North Shore, M, Sr.: Maler poses a big offensive threat with her stickwork, endurance and footwork. She serves as a leader for the team. 
 Emily Maloney, Northport, D, Sr.: Maloney is one of four returning starters from last year’s state championship team. Her defensive positioning and ability to shut down opponents make her valuable. 
 Elizabeth Mansfield, Sayville, M, Sr.: Mansfield controls the offense, moving the ball skillfully up the field. She has a powerful and accurate shot. 
 Kaylise McClure, Sachem North, GK, Sr.: McClure returns as one of the top goalkeepers in Suffolk. Her footwork, positioning and eye for the ball make her stand out.

 Emily McGinley, Ward Melville, D, Sr.:&nbsp;She leads a strong defensive unit. A smart, patient and skilled defender, McGinley returns as one of the top defensive players in Suffolk. 
 Kaitlyn McGovern, Carle Place, M/D, Sr.:&nbsp;McGovern has great game sense and awareness. With both tackling skills and the ability to push the offense, she has a solid overall game. 
 Emma McGrory, East Hampton, M, Sr.:&nbsp;McGrory had 16 goals and eight assists to lead East Hampton’s attack last season. 
 Cassidy Morrow, Massapequa, M, Jr.:&nbsp;Morrow played a big role in leading Massapequa to its second straight Nassau Class A championship last season. 
 Haley Naslonski, Bay Shore/Islip, F, Jr.:&nbsp;&nbsp;She has great speed, stickwork, power and vision that she uses well on both offensive and defensive corners. She had 11 goals and five assists last season. 
 Victoria Nelson, Floyd, F, Sr.:&nbsp;She possesses great speed and skill to lead Floyd’s offensive attack. 
 Katherine O’Hanlon, Garden City, F/M/D, So.:&nbsp;There isn’t a spot on the field that she can’t play. The versatile&nbsp;O'Hanlon started in all three positions as a freshman. 
 Caitlin O’Malley, Northport, D, Sr.:&nbsp;She was an integral part of Northport’s undefeated run to a state championship last season. She’s taking on new roles for both offensive and defensive corners, while remaining the backbone of the defense. 
 Sara O’Sullivan, Sachem East, M/D, Sr.:&nbsp;O’Sullivan is composed on the field as she makes quick and game-changing decisions to benefit her team. She’s effective at cutting as well as making passes in transition.

 Shea Panzik, Manhasset, M, Sr.:&nbsp;Panzik totaled 20 points (12 goals and eight assists) last season,&nbsp;which was third best in Nassau. 
 Sophia Papacostas, Clarke, F, Sr.:&nbsp;The captain brings great playmaking and communication to a strong offense. Papacostas finished with five goals and five assists last season. 
 Kerrin Pettit, Smithtown East, D, Jr.:&nbsp;Pettit plays on both offensive and defensive corner units. She’s often attacking on offense from the defender position. 
 Peyton Phillips, Ward Melville, F, Jr.:&nbsp;Phillips is quick on and off the ball. Her skill and intelligence allow her to cause problems for defenses in the attacking circle. 
 Dylan Reilly, Greenport/Southold/Mattituck, GK, Sr.:&nbsp;Reilly is one of the few returners to the team. She made 205 saves last season and had five games of 20 or more&nbsp;saves. She had 33 saves in the Suffolk Class C final last season. 
 Reily Roberts, Locust Valley, D, Sr.:&nbsp;Roberts steps into a leadership position as a smart defender with “unbelievable field sense,” coach Sandy Jozefowski said. 
 Sofia Scalzo, Manhasset, M, Jr.:&nbsp;Scalzo is a well-rounded midfielder. She can be a playmaker for her teammates while also keeping opponents from getting into Manhasset’s defensive zone. 
 Caeleigh Schuster, East Hampton, GK, So.:&nbsp;She stopped 93.6% of shots and made 161 saves as a freshman. She also tallied six shutouts. 
 Emma Shanahan, Bayport-Blue Point, F, Jr.:&nbsp;Shanahan tied for fifth in Suffolk with 17 goals to lead Bayport-Blue Point’s offense. 
 Gwendolyn Smith, Miller Place, M, Jr.:&nbsp;Smith controls the game from the midfield with great vision and stickhandling. 
 Amanda Sweeney, Eastport-South Manor, M, Sr.:&nbsp;Sweeney had 33 points (18 points and 15 assists), which was third best in Suffolk last season. She’s the top returning point scorer on Long Island.

 Rylee Wassmer, Patchogue-Medford, M, Sr.:&nbsp;She’s the centerpiece of Patchogue-Medford’s offense and defense, racking up 11 goals and two assists to pair with her excellent stickwork and clearing. 
 Sydney Woods, Rocky Point, F, Sr.:&nbsp;Woods tallied six assists last season to help lead Rocky Point to a Suffolk II championship. She’s primed for a strong senior season. 
 Kendal Woolley, Bayport-Blue Point, F, Sr.:&nbsp;Woolley has been one of the top scorers for the Phantoms for the past few years. She had eight goals and 11 assists last season. 
 Sofia Zumbrunn, Sachem North, M, Sr.:&nbsp;Zumbrunn is very versatile from the midfield. She has quick stick skills and great vision.

 Mullane Baumiller, Sayville, Sr.:&nbsp;Baumiller led Sayville to a Class B title at the state championship and placed eighth in the race in 19:46.8. 
 Claire Bohan, South Side, Sr.:&nbsp;Bohan finished 30th&nbsp;in 20:43.8 at the state Class B championship and finished third at the Nassau Class B state qualifier in 19:37.8. 
 Ashley Carillo, Port Washington, Jr.:&nbsp;Carillo finished 48th&nbsp;in 20:22.2 at the state Class A championship and finished second in 19:29.5 at the Nassau Class A state qualifier.

 Alicia DeFilippis, North Babylon, Sr.:&nbsp;DeFilippis finished 22nd&nbsp;in 19:38.9 at the state Class A championship and finished 48th&nbsp;in 19:54.0 at the Federation meet. 
 Aislinn Frazer, Friends Academy, Jr.:&nbsp;Frazer finished sixth in 19:44.8 at the state Class B championship and 36th&nbsp;in 19:38.3 at the Federation championship. 
 Cali Gabrielson, Mt. Sinai, 8th grade:&nbsp;Gabrielson finished 29th&nbsp;in 20:43.0 at the state Class B championship and finished fourth in 20:14.6 at the Suffolk Class C/D state qualifier. 
 Anna Gansrow, Eastport-South Manor, Sr.:&nbsp;Gansrow placed 66th&nbsp;in 20:55.8 at the state Class A championship and finished seventh in 20:17.9 at the Suffolk Class A state qualifier.

 Zaria Hall, East Meadow, Soph.:&nbsp;Hall took&nbsp;third in 19:45.2 at the Nassau Class A state qualifier. She&nbsp;finished 43rd&nbsp;in 20:17.2 at the state Class A championship. 
 Kayla Hayes, Babylon, Sr.:&nbsp;Hayes placed 15th&nbsp;at the state Class C championship and finished 58th&nbsp;in 20:02.7 at the Federation championship. 
 Megan Lankowicz, Sayville, Soph.:&nbsp;Lankowicz finished 19th&nbsp;in 20:19.6 at the state Class B championship and finished 64th&nbsp;in 20:09.7 at the Federation championship. 
 Zariel Macchia, Floyd, Jr.:&nbsp;Macchia won the state Class A championship last year in 18:02.6, 15.8 seconds faster than the second-place finisher.&nbsp; 
 Sophia McInnes, Bayport-Blue Point, Jr.:&nbsp;A member of Newsday’s All-Long Island track team for winning the Division II 1,500 and 3,000 last spring, McInnes won the pre-state Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Invitational in 18:17.7 earlier this season.

 Jake Albert, Lindenhurst, Jr.:&nbsp;Albert ran 17:30.2 at the Suffolk state qualifier last fall and started this season with a 17:03.5 time at Sunken Meadow. 
 Douglas Antaky, Smithtown, Sr.:&nbsp;Antaky finished 13th&nbsp;in 16:45&nbsp;at last year’s state Class A championship and finished 16th&nbsp;in 16:37.7 at the state Federation championship. 
 Evan Attrino, Deer Park, Sr.:&nbsp;Attrino finished 48th&nbsp;in 17:27.4 at the state Class A championship and finished 44th&nbsp;in 17:00.8 at the Federation championship. 
 Jess Joe Augustine, Mt. Sinai, Sr.:&nbsp;A returning member of the Newsday All-Long Island track team for the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Augustine finished second in 16:27.7 at the Bob Pratt Invitational earlier this season.

 Brandon Cruz, Northport, Sr.:&nbsp;Cruz finished 29th&nbsp;in 17:03.8 at the state Class A championship and 57th&nbsp;in 17:08.5 at the Federation meet&nbsp;last year. 
 Jake Gogarty, Bay Shore, Sr.:&nbsp;Gogarty ran the fastest time of any Long Islander at last year's state Class A&nbsp; championship, finishing in 11th place&nbsp;in 16:37.7. He also finished 18th&nbsp;in 16:38.1 at the Federation meet. 
 Trevor Green, Rocky Point, Soph.:&nbsp;Green finished 17th&nbsp;in 17:24.5 at last year's state Class B championship and finished 117th&nbsp;in 17:45.7 at the state Federation championship. 
 Trevor Hayes, Westhampton,&nbsp;Sr.:&nbsp;Hayes finished 10th&nbsp;in 17:08.8 at last year's state&nbsp;Class B championship and finished second in 17:24.4 at the Suffolk state Class B qualifier. 
 Jason Kerber, Oceanside, Sr.:&nbsp;Kerber was third among non-seniors —&nbsp;and 10th overall —&nbsp; in 17:00.7 at last year's Nassau state Class A qualifier.

 Erick Burciaga, West Islip, S, Sr.: One of the top setters in Suffolk, Burciaga had 522 assists, 95 digs and 18 aces as a junior. 
 Liam Booth, Connetquot, L, Sr.: Booth had 196 digs, 40 assists and 11 aces last year. He’ll take on a bigger role this season as Connetquot looks to make another Long Island championship appearance. 
 Sean Cantwell, West Islip, MH, Sr.: Cantwell had 55 kills, 33 blocks, 30 digs and 17 aces as a junior. The 6-4 senior will control the middle for the Lions. 
 Brady Cascone, Commack, OH, Sr.: He averaged 15 kills per game last year and again will be the focal point of the offense. 
 Apollo Casino, Floral Park, L, Sr.: The defensive specialist will be a key contributor to the Knights’ success.

 ABIGAIL BREEN, Sayville, Sr.:&nbsp;With a huge serve and high-velocity ground strokes,&nbsp;Breen is expected to be a contender in the Suffolk County singles tournament. 
 MATILDA BUCHEN, Jr.,&nbsp;and JULIA STABILE, Westhampton, Sr.:&nbsp;The Hurricanes tandem won the 2022 Suffolk individual doubles title and finished seventh in the state. In team play last season, they were a combined 35-1 at singles. 
 OLIVIA CARUSO, Ross School, Eighth Grade:&nbsp;Caruso’s stellar play at third singles a year ago helped the Ravens go 16-2 and ascend to the Suffolk small schools title match. She should see action at first and second singles. 
 LYNELLE CHERNAVSKY, Ward Melville, So.:&nbsp;Chernavsky, who has impressive power,&nbsp;was a singles semifinalist at the Suffolk individual championships last season.

 SKYLAR COHEN, Friends Academy, Sr.:&nbsp;Cohen went 10-4 at second singles to help the Quakers reach the Nassau small school championship match last season, and she advanced to the quarterfinals of the county individual championship. She is a Yale lacrosse commit. 
 KATI COTEK, Cold Spring Harbor, Sr.:&nbsp;Cotek was 12-4 at second singles in helping the Seahawks win their first Nassau and Long Island small schools championships last season. She could opt for doubles in county play with either&nbsp;junior Kami Cotek (her sister) or sophomore Brooke Winthrop. 
 ADRIANNA FILIPPELLI, Floyd, Sr.:&nbsp;The Colonials are once again in the county championship conversation in no small part to the play of Filippelli, who coach Dave Pia said is “more mentally relaxed” in the role at first singles this season. 
 NYLA GERSHFELD, Hewlett, Sr.:&nbsp;Gershfeld went 14-4 in singles last season and took fourth place in the Nassau individual singles championship. She was Newsday’s Co-Player of the Year in 2019 as half of the state doubles champion. 
 SOFIA KEDRIN, Garden City, Eighth Grade:&nbsp;In her first year of high school tennis, Kedrin will battle seniors Nina&nbsp;Wiese and Kayla Castellano for the top spots in the Trojans' lineup. She was the state’s top-ranked player as a 12-year-old and is top five at 14-and-under.

 ANYA KONOPKA, Smithtown East, Jr.:&nbsp;Konopka followed a third-place finish in the county individual singles championships by reaching the final 16 in the state tournament last season. She went 12-0 to help the Bulls reach the Suffolk large school final and finished the season 22-2. 
 MADISON LEE, Great Neck South, So.:&nbsp;Lee was part of the No. 3 doubles team in the state a year ago, and posted a 12-3 record at first singles for the Blazers. 
 MARIA PEREZ, Middle Country, Sr.:&nbsp;Perez is eyeing a state tournament berth after reaching the Suffolk individual singles semifinals for a third consecutive season in 2022. 
 KYLIE PERSON and MEREDITH ALBERTELLI, Seniors, Sayville:&nbsp;The Golden Flashes’ top doubles team exemplifies a whole being bigger than the sum of its parts. Albertelli has power and Person is relentlessly accurate, but their chemistry makes them a force. 
 ALEX RAIKOS, Mepham, Jr.:&nbsp;Raikos was the shining light on a Pirates team that suffered 13 losses, going 12-0 in singles before reaching the quarterfinals in the Nassau individual singles championships.

 Teamed with an older sibling in 2022, Emilia Romano took second in the Suffolk individual doubles tournament. She will play first singles in team play and likely pair with her younger sister for county and state play. Evangeline Romano is a top doubles player for the Phantoms. 
 JOSIE RUDLOFF, Sr.,&nbsp;and AYA DECKMAN, Fr., Harborfields:&nbsp;The returns of Rudloff and Deckman are big reasons why the defending Suffolk large school champion Tornadoes are a threat to repeat. The duo reached the semifinals of the 2022 county individual doubles tournament. 
 ISABELLA SPILOTROS, Smithtown West, Sr.:&nbsp;Spilotros has been in the top tier of singles players for several years now and appears primed for a breakthrough season after reaching a quarterfinal in the 2022 Suffolk individual championships. 
 KADY TANNENBAUM, Commack, Sr.:&nbsp;The 2021 state singles champion is returning to high school tennis after taking a year off to train and play national-level tournaments. “She is physically stronger, improved her skills and has more confidence,” coach Jackie Clark said. 
 ANIKA TOLAT, Roslyn, Jr.:&nbsp;Tolat is half the doubles team that finished third at the Nassau individual tournament and fourth in the state tournament. Her 11-5 record in singles helped the Bulldogs reach the large school semifinals last season.

She played with a different doubles partner last season and&nbsp;could play with sister Andrea – who plays first singles in team play – this postseason. 
 ANGEL WALIA, Herricks, Jr.:&nbsp;&nbsp;After returning midseason from injury, Walia went 9-2 in singles and reached the quarterfinals in the Nassau individual championships last season. 
 NINA WIESE, Garden City, Sr.:&nbsp;After taking third place in singles at the Nassau individual championships, Wiese placed sixth in the state tournament. She was 19-3 overall for the 2022 season. 
 PAIGE WYGODZKI, St. Anthony’s, Fr.:&nbsp;Just weeks into her first year in high school, the poised and confident lefthander will be the Friars’ No. 1 singles player. A five-star recruit according to tenninsrecruiting.net, she could contend for the Catholic individual singles title.

They will meld their talents for the county individual doubles tournament.
